If Linux can run the internet, power supercomputers, and dominate cloud computing, the desktop argument is just lazy excuses.

I think it is about exposure, we use a web browser to access web pages or social media sites for example, people don't think about or care about what makes it work, we usually end up with the magic box reason.

In terms of desktops, people just see Windows pre installed, if you sign up for basic IT classes, they probably use tablets or desktop / laptops, the latter running windows, with MS office.

The same goes for search, google is the 'goto' when we surely should be getting people to do searches via multiple search engines to contrast results (not that everyone has time for that)

Social media - again the go to is facebook, instagram, tiktok, youtube etc, so they are everywhere and talked about all the time.

People ask about or use what they have heard of, until that changes not much will happen to change the current status quo.
