Options you can do for disaster preparedness instead of doomscrolling:

- look up your evacuation zone & write it down somewhere easy to check in case you don’t have internet

- look up how your area sends disaster alerts & subscribe your entire household

- build your “go bag”. include important paperwork & if you can, a week of medications

- if you can afford it, purchase extra water and canned food, flashlights, and a first aid kit. Iirc HSA & FSA funds can be used for first aid kits.

download your regional card in Google Maps so it works offline. If you have no internet wether because the cellphone towers are burning themselves or cause the fire cut the electric lines powering them you'll still be able to navigate outta there as long as you have GPS.

also: Powerbank, Powerbank, Powerbank (and extra charging cables)

Just thought, there is also the What Three Words app, which can be good for giving people your location.

If that is a concern I just open my location-tracking in Google Maps so dad can track me in near real-time. Chances are I'm having that app open anyhow so the sinal get updated whenever I come in range of a cell tower
