Evacuations as wildfire spreads north through Galloway forest - BBC News
“It warned that there was typically a large volume of "dead, bone-dry vegetation across large areas of countryside" at this time of year which acts as a fuel for fire.”
There was a report that one of these fires were started deliberately. I know there was a gorse fire elsewhere.
Another fire that is going to cause a huge amount of damage to species already under treat too.
Not that I am tryimg to point fingers, but these fires also coincide with the start of school easter holidays.
Looks like a reminder has gone out not to use bbqs on the moors, so this may be one factor. Again start of school holidays and nice weather.
