We need to make it compulsory learning, but does it come under history or something else, perhaps if the point of learning about the holocaust is to stop it happening it needs to be integrated in to more than one subject.
Also define when it started, the concentration camps were part of the 'final solution' up to that and prior to 1939 jews and minority groups were being persecuted, and prior to that, we had the rhetoric of hate that meant hitler gained power.
surely we need to stop people fueled by hatred and predudice gaining power, rather than trying to stop people once they have gained power.
