I got an old projector screen with motor to open/close it automatically, working on 220V. I'm opening it up to review it, but got a mysterious component.
Anyone an idea what this is at what it serves? I suspect it is a capacitor.

The red component looks like a capacitor yes, don't they, generally help to smooth out voltages esp if converting AC to DC via a bridge rectifier.
