BBC: Thousands join Tommy Robinson rally, as counter-protesters demonstrate

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwydez

I wonder if this was the planned turnout or if the numbers have been swelled by the death of Charlie Kirk, either way the support for the far right in the UK is growing, the current government is also failing.

These people say they don't recognise this country due to all the immigrants, I don't recognise this country due to these protests.

@zleap

The UK is a group of islands. By it's nature all of us will have ancestors who migrated to these shores.

The ones who need to be told to leave are the far right.

(Edit to correct island to islands)

@StingrayBadger

I agree, current figure is 110,000 at this rally and 6000 at the counter anti-racism rally.

@zleap

I'm really concerned by this:

"Ahead of the march, the Met confirmed it would not be using live facial recognition - which captures people's faces in real-time CCTV cameras - in its policing of the Unite the Kingdom march."

While anyone supporting Palestine is likely to go to jail. F*** this country is getting really fascist.

@StingrayBadger

Which confirms we have two tier policing in this country, away from these protests, how many phones have been stolen, how many people have been assaulted and how many shopworkers et al have been assaulted today, not to mention how many shops have had items stolen, this seems an every day occurance in London, which the police do very little about, despite CCTV in shops for example.

It will only get worse in the UK. If the counter protests are something like 6000 people.

@ferret

Yeah, we have had our fair share of protests and riots over the years, I sort of remember the miners strike in the 80s, but nothing like this, we are really divided it is getting worse.
