Frances Matilda Van de Grift was born #OTD, 10 March, 1840, in Indianapolis. An author in her own right, in 1880 she married Robert Louis Stevenson, a man ten years her junior.

I think all the authors were keenly aware of the class differences from different perspectives, and while they are decades apart in eras, they do nail (from what I know) the issues cleanly and with grace.
