@alex so are Persian considered white? Not Semitic right?

@alex I was thinking more scientists thoughts. I don't believe in white nationalists.

Follow

@alex that is an easy web search but I was always taught there were only 3 not sure if that still stands though.

@alex @Absinthe I'm more of a species kind of guy. Human beings are all the same species. A lot of Sci-Fi and Fantasty in my childhood- So, an alien is a different 'race' but a human being is a human being.

@Absinthe @alex Dog breeds are a showing of eugenics in action. Humanity, for the most part, is unlike breeds of dogs due to the lack of selective breeding.

Still, a dog is the same species despite breed type.

@Surasanji @alex I would argue that humans have been selectively bred by virtue of natural physical borders like oceans and mountains and so on. As well as royalty and class. Certainly not to the degree that dogs have been (for our pleasure and whim) but certainly to similar ends. But as the world becomes a smaller place and cultural taboos of interrelations between cultures are overcome perhaps we are creating the overall healthier mutt!

@Surasanji @alex horses and donkeys are of different species but most times they can have an offspring and in rare cases it is even fertile as well. Homo sapiens do show proof of cross breeding with neanderthal to the degree of about 3% shared genome. One might argue that we are genetically close enough to chimps and Bonobos for potemtially viable interbreeding, but I am pretty sure current taboos prevent the science from even trying such experimentation.

@alex @Absinthe There are some aspects of race that are reflections of environmental adaption, like an African Native is more suited to Africa than Inuit would be. That said, we are all still members of the same species; an Inuit and African would still be able to have a child together just as two Africans or two Inuit could. So there is an aspect of race that is socially constructed, like we are over emphasizing the real natural aspects of race which are far less pronounced on average. We're all people and have the same inalienable rights.

@featherFag @alex certainly there are some genetic differences, on the cop shows when they find blood at a crime scene they seem to know race and sex. Or is that just tv magic?

@Absinthe
@alex
Its technically possible, that is how 23andme works after all.

@featherFag @alex if race is, in fact, not unlike dog breeds, then it is unhealthy which is why we see specialized diseases in cultures where outbreeding is somewhat taboo like royalty, certain groups that have emigrated to other countries but refused to integrate with the current indigenous population as well as other cousin kcuffing anti-misogenarion advocates. I would think there would be natural attraction to those who look a bit different from yourself. Just a thought.

@Absinthe @alex Dog breeds have issues because the way they are bred is a practice of eugenics. Letting people reproduce freely without trying to force certain traits prevents this. If we started "breeding" humans for traits like IQ or something else you can be assured we would see some fucked up deformations much like the inbred royalty like you mention.

@featherFag @alex but inbreeding happens. In royalty it happens because people are attempting to maintain lineage to G-d because they believe their power supposedly comes from this. Such arguments for "purity of the races" would result in this as well. "Stick with your own kind" is encouragement for inbreeding. Intentional or otherwise.

@Absinthe @alex there is really no good reason to persue racial purity. Look at the average white American and more likely than not they have more than one ancestor that is not white. The idea of racial purity is bunk simply on the basis that nobody is racially PURE nor is that desireable genetically.
