One of the algorithms I invented for my company is called GANDALF (its an acronym).. but for copyright reasons we decided to name our mascot "Gandalfo the off-white wizard".... someone asked me if he has magical powers, I said "Just one, the power to avoid copyright laws"

@lonelyowl While alot of my tech is open source sadly this one is not. Otherwise id love it!

@freemo

Most of the stuff i've written is non-free :<
I've worked on a couple crappy android apps as a hired developer, and none of them are open source.
Sometimes i feel bad about it, like i'm a subhuman dev who can't publish anything meaningful.

@lonelyowl

I have done a fuck ton of open source stuff, but only a small fraction directly makes me money.

You can see the full list of my projects on my front page: JeffreyFreeman.me

That said I've probably done as much work or more that is proprietary, probably more. I dont feel bad, I feel there should be a mix of both in the world.

Even now as I am spinning up my new company (we recently got funding) I am trying to decide the balance between the two.

@freemo @lonelyowl The balance between the two is Military adoption or maybe convincing IBM that Microsoft will suffer.
