It would be incredible if Trump remains as an albatross on the Republican party, forever dividing it between the extremists and institutionalists, splitting the vote and waning their power, a curse of their own making.

But such poetic justice exists only in the realm of fiction.

He IS fiction -- that's his entire MO.

(ps - you don't need to put pol behind a CW, it makes it look like participation in democracy is taboo.)

@Pat Disagree on the CW. While I agree that everyone should participate in democracy, I don't think they should be compelled to be involved 100% of the time. There are times I like to shut off the politics for a while and get some peace. CWs are a good way to facilitate that.

@LouisIngenthron

I think it sends the wrong message.

I skip over a good portion of toots in the public feeds with all kinds of content I'm not interested in.

Also, CWs are for people with conditions that make them susceptible to harm like flashing lights. If CWs are on a lot of otherwise harmless toots, it makes it more difficult for them.

@Pat Again, I disagree. I subscribe to the idea that CWs are "content wrappers", or essentially subject lines, and can be for things that trigger folks or simply about subjects some people prefer to avoid. For example, I know some people put wordle results behind CWs, which is nice because idgaf about wordle.

@LouisIngenthron

Well, that's not what they're for, but I guess you can use them for whatever you want. I gave you my take on it.

You've been warned.
