FOSS Terminology Change Survey

@g @jbauer I got curious and googled if the word "blacklist" has racial origins - it doesn't seem to.

@sjb @g Blacklist and whitelist don't have their origins in racial matters as far as I can tell. Their origins seem to be related to the religious concepts of "black" meaning something bad and "white" meaning something pure or holy. The earliest known uses are from the 17th century.

I'd argue that the origins of bright=good, dark=bad association are older than religion.

Dark is bad because for humans it's hard to see in the dark, but not so for nocturnal predators, which posed a great threat to early humans.

Also with higher latitudes, the amount of daily darkness grows with bad effects on mind's health (and life in general, not only for humans).
