@rootcompute If i said i hate steam because it's just a way of separating people from their money, not providing any service, would you agree?
@rootcompute I'm just saying steam did not create, but can cut you off for no reason. Bought the game, payed for it? Well fuck you, game gone...
@admitsWrongIfProven I agree with this in theory, and definitely why a DRM-free approach is better, like what GOG does.
That said, I own nearly 2,000 Steam games and have never been cut off from a single one to my knowledge. They'll remove items from sale, sure, but it always stays in your library—even online games that are no longer accessible seemingly do this
The cool thing about PC gaming is that people are free to use my Curator as resource for information while acquiring games elsewhere
@rootcompute Not acceptable to me, but i do wish you the best.
It seems you understand, but assume there was some humanity in the company? Are you sure they will keep that contract?
@admitsWrongIfProven I don't agree that Steam provides no service. Centralized updates and mod support, community reviews, highly sortable databases of digital games are all clear benefits of the service to me.
If you want to discuss the addictive potential of "collecting" (hoarding) cheap, intangible items or the diminished concept of media ownership intrinsic to Steam and other digital platforms of its kind, I am more open to these beliefs.
