Here. Right here is when it all went wrong.

I'll admit I did not know that the effect on Black turnout would be this bad. I knew it was bad, but I significantly underestimated how bad. I didn't pay attention to it. I didn't know that the backslide in support continued.
Another miscalculation I made: I was pretty sure that the majority of white women would vote for Trump, and that white women's turnout would be high, but I did not anticipate how high. They showed up.
@mekkaokereke Just from looking at the total tally, I noticed that voter turnout seems to be about 8 million less than 2020. Trump will end up with about the same number of total votes, and Harris will have about 8-9 million fewer. It shocked me. You are so right - no one was responding to the message after the initial momentum. She could have won, but she listened to her "seasoned veteran advisors" who told her to dash to the center.
@johnmark @mekkaokereke
That assumes stuff not in evidence. She was out there doing rallies to the LAST NIGHT. She wasn't "dashing to the center".
@PJ_Evans @mekkaokereke She was touting the support of the Cheneys and other Republicans. If that's not dashing to the center, I don't know what it. The whole "bipartisan advisory board" thing - what would you call that?
@johnmark @PJ_Evans @mekkaokereke you can get more specific about policy points, too. For instance, she (and Biden) eagerly embraced a racist and xenophobic immigration policy, she ran on increased exploitation of fossil fuels, she said the big difference btw her and Biden would be that she’d put a Republican in her cabinet, etc etc etc
Are you sure it was Democrats who failed to vote? The numbers I'm seeing say that "Never Trump" Republicans who crossed party lines to vote for Biden in 2020 just stayed home this election.

Being neutral in this case is equivalent to being bad. "I wash my hands."
@antares @locksmithprime @mkranz @PJ_Evans @mekkaokereke That sounds right. I think Kamala thought (hoped?) that would repeat in 2024. It did not :(
