I was considering starting a blog in which I would upload reviews of books that I had read. Subsequently, I posted a toot asking for recommendations for blogging platforms to use. One of the recommendations provided was for Write. As, from the . I promptly signed up to a free account and found out there is no way for an external audience to read what I have written without me using the paid version. Is this correct or have I misunderstood?

@Bibliolater 📚📜🖋 Write.as isn't a Fediverse project. It's the paid flagship instance of WriteFreely which, in turn, is basically Medium in the Fediverse before Medium itself joined the Fediverse.

See FediDB and Fediverse Observer for instances.

@jupiter_rowland Thank you for the comment. I am having real difficulty trying to understand how to get a blog up and running without self-hosting or paying a monthly subscription.

@Bibliolater 📚📜🖋 Just look for a public WriteFreely instance with open registration. One that isn't Write.as. Create an account. Blog away.

WriteFreely is a Fediverse project like Mastodon, only that it mimicks Medium and similar blogging engines and not Twitter. It decentralised and in the Fediverse like Mastodon, and Mastodon users can follow WriteFreely blogs (unfortunately, they can't interact with them yet).
