PowerShell/PHP look so different, though one syntactical element is the same: variables are written as $<VariableName> = value. Was that coincidental, I wonder?

@cambridgeport90 Its also the case in sh/bash. Both languages derived their convention from sh/bash because of its ubiquity at the time.
