Unclear on how Mastodon works
So if I dive into some tiresome political thread or something, and make some witty or snarky comments or whatever, are my followers subject to those comments appearing (out of context) in their feeds, or are they spared that?

@pre Brilliant, thank you! That makes so much sense...
Unclear on how Mastodon works
@ceoln Mastodon has some concept of threads/replies, but it's a bit more abstract than twitter.
When posting (or replying), click the 'globe' to get visibility options.
Set it to 'public' for things you want to publish to your followers.
Set it to 'Unlisted' (like this Toot) for replies and thread-building.

re: Unclear on how Mastodon works
@ceoln generally on mastodon they'll only see it if they follow you both.
But they can find it if they change defaults, other fedi software may behave differently.
You may boost your reply if it's really witty and you want others to see it.
