A good op piece in the Times about the need to keep vaccine development going, but I really dislike the framing of the issue as some sort of global competitive sport (eg 'foreign rivals'). This kind of zero sum thinking about public health is why we're still in this mess in 2023.

@cyrilpedia agree that that framing is unproductive but honestly it might appeal to the constant need for some American politicians to feel like the US is better than everyone else
@enirenberg You may be right - but it's a depressing thought (and down the line it leads to more restrictions on global distribution).
