Although I am not Indian, I did read about Mastodon first time on a BBC news report saying people were deserting Twitter in India and moving to Mastodon.
Uhm, what is that? Thats how I started.

Yes! Not India but Hindus.
And there is a famous quote by Swami Vivekananda on it: "We believe in 33 milion Gods because we believe there is god in every human being. Serve them to serve the god."
