@nolan Feature Request for Pinafore :

Could you consider adding a context menu option to a Toot -- offering Save, or Share, or Copy possibly?

Useful to recover good info from DMs, which I could import into our Forum for permanent records for example. I woudl like this feature, and found it is implemente in Fedilab.

Screenshots attached. (all menus in Portuguese)

The screenshot with possible options, lots of them.

Relevant ones highlighted in yellow.

1. Compartilhar -- Share (with other apps);

2. Copiar -- Copy (to system clipboard);

I was thinking about the usefullness of this feature, and thought you could consider it?

Thank you!

And maybe @a1batross might consider adding this to Husky as well -- Thank you also.

@yann2 @nolan @design_RG @freemo there is share and copy already. Share is accessed through context menu(three dots) and copy is accessed through long tap on text.
This behavior was not changed from original.

@a1batross @design_RG @freemo @yann2 Yup, this is correct, you can hit the three dots and then "copy" or "share" ("share" is only supported in some browsers/OSes).

@nolan

Thanks, Nolan -- I only see these, Firefox on Windows 10.

Not the one I am looking for. Got to try on mobile, but I rarely use it; prefer laptop/desktops.

OOOOoooh.... 😜

Who would have that option would copy the Data involved too. But thanks for clarification!

@a1batross @freemo @yann2

@nolan
No, sir, as I imagined, the copy link does exactly that, not a penny more. 😃

@a1batross @freemo @yann2

@design_RG @a1batross @freemo @yann2 It doesn't copy the data, just the link. :) That's what the "share" button does (copies the toot content and author name plus the URL), but it's only available on certain platforms and browsers. (Notably iOS/Android)

@nolan
Ok, so we users of Real Computers, beg you to implement this, if possible.

We got a ton of internal staff talk, which starts as a casual DM and soon is important, and should be preserved -- hence my need for an effocient copy, to take it to our Forum for permanent record.

And most staff probably use PC class machines for real work in Fedi, I imagine. So I think it is an useful feature.

@a1batross @freemo @yann2

@design_RG @nolan @freemo @yann2 the problem of share button on PCs is that mostly no one have such feature built-in.

In Android/iOS it's pretty easy, you just fire up an intent and OS looks which apps have handlers to it. There is no such thing on PC.

So all you have to do, is to copy the link by yourself and paste it to your app of choice.

@a1batross

Thank you, I just got the apk for Husky and installed, will try later.

Hope there's a way to share the date (toot url plus text content) via clipboard in Windows or Linux too.

@freemo @nolan @yann2

@design_RG @freemo @nolan @yann2 only through clipboard.

To have same share feature as on mobile, you probably need to ask W3C instead :meowgiggle:

@a1batross

Thank you. I just installed and used Husky, it did support the Share Toot (with link only or link+data choices), which went to my text editor on mobile successfuly.

The client looks nice and polished at first impressions, well done.

@freemo @nolan @yann2

@a1batross

Yes, stepping in the Shoulders of Giants. But you added some nice extras -- the Rich Text formatting support is unique.

And I do value that, plain mastodon text pales in comparison to what we can do in GlitchSoc or Pleroma toots.

@freemo @nolan @yann2

@nolan @design_RG @freemo @yann2 oh, it's already there. Wish browsers were supporting this, at least for web services.
