Next time you want to frame the rich as evil or the problem for all ills in society remember this statistic. The wealthiest 1.4 percent of Americans are responsible for 86 percent of all charitable donations.

@freemo Most of The Rich tell themselves that they deserve their wealth. They believe that they’re smarter, more disciplined, and more talented than everyone else. Even if they cheat, and they do, it just shows how clever they are. But a lot of them aren’t. Most of them are simply lucky enough to be born with advantages. Advantages so enormous that they can be monumentally stupid and still remain rich. Trump is the most obvious example, but he’s not alone. On the rare occasion that a Not-Rich becomes a Rich, it’s often because they got lucky in finding an exploit no one had ever thought of. Either way, it’s mostly luck.

@drdej555 Yes, I also agree monopolies are bad. Thats not the same however as saying rich people are bad. It is one exampleof how asshole rich people do bad things, but the asshole rich people are still a minority among rich people is the point.

By all means identify where capitalism fails or where rich-power hurts, its valid in many cases. But just dont frame it as a "rich people are evil" sort of thing is all.
