They have this crazy good fish jerky everywhere. I could really be healthy here. -- October 5 at 11:40 PM

@freemo Fish jerky is big here with the former Eastern Block peoples. Russia/Ukraine and whatnot. It's available in every russian store. Usually next to beer.

I like the salmon. It's really quite good.

@Surasanji Salmon is my favorite (I make it myself all the time). Sadly all I saw in the Iceland supermarket was whitefish of some sort.

@freemo I'm pretty set on the Salmon, but I have tried other types. A lot of them are REAAAALLY salty. These are the Russian versions, mind, so I'm not sure how other dried/smoked/jerkeyed fish goes elsewhere.

Maybe one day I'll be able to travel and eat all the food!

@Surasanji The jerky i tried in Iceland had no salt of any kind on it. Still good despite this though I think salt would have improved it.

@freemo YEah, all the Russian stuff is salted to high heaven. But, they do eat it with beer, primarily, at least in my experience. Might be just like salted peanuts.

@Surasanji I use a special sort of salt when i make jerky (or anything really) made from potassium instead of sodium. It is really good for you (a vitamin) so I don't hesitate to be a little generous with its usage.

@freemo Neat. My sister is sending me a bunch of beef jerky from the states. I'm looking forward to getting it.

@Surasanji We have some decent jerkey, particularly if you get the real stuff.

@freemo I need to learn to make this myself. That and biltong.

@Surasanji Jerky itself is real easy. Spice it, flavor it, and dry it in a dryer. Bitlong I never tried but that looks like way more of a process.
