@mngrif and what of the people who arent learners? If we dont require people to have an interest in STEM (be learners as you say) then why state it as a purpose at all?

I generally have agreed with your sentiment until now and that has been our stance. But it is at the point where we got a **lot** os users who just see it as a replacement for twitter with no interest for the ideals or purpose of the instance as a place for those with STEM interests.

Moreover, do you really want to have to moderate by needing to hand type text from images in a foreign language to translate it to see if it is an advertisement or not.

In the end, if we dont ensure we have high quality people here, if nothing else, then the timeline looks like a spam folder very quicklya nd would drive away our quality users leaving only the spam.

Personally i can see both sides.
