@freemo It's one of the indirect indicators of how seriously the Chinese economy has been affected (February seems to have dropped to near zero).

Some are looking at electricity generation statistics too, which seems to be about half the normal numbers since industrial demand has dropped drastically.

@design_RG Not surprising really. though lets keep in mind this isnt entierly the viruses effect directly. Some of it is just the consequence of fear, which the chinese tend to have an overexagerated sense of when it comes to disease (noted by their tendency to wear face masks years round). I'd imagine the same virus infecting a different population to the same degree would have fewer economic consequences, though the consequences wouldnt be absent.
