@snow We can't really control how much response we get on a post; hopefully an instance with an active Local feed might generate some, and it's quite enjoyable when it happens.
You did already good things, by engaging with other people's posts, which pleases them and in turn might generate responses to your own threads.
But the Local feed here at Qoto doesn't feel as nice as it was in some earlier times (mind you my experience here is also a limited time only).
These are my best suggestions, hope they can help you; although it doesn't depend on the author only either.
Maybe try to find some interesting posts in the "Home"feed and respond there? I came across some really nice ones and got engaged, enjoyed it; although it's such a random thing, that we just happen to see that post and be looking at the right feed to see it.

If you feel the quality of the home feed is decling we should discuss how and what we can do to improve that. I find the best way is if you find people never make STEM related posts of any kind, reach out to them, remind them its a STEM instance by asking them if they are a STEM professional. I find that alone, even without forcing them to change the content they post, has a positive effect.
