So would seem that recently Sunbeamcity.com has stated that their administrative position is to support and protect doxxing when they deem it appropriate.
This puts people at real danger especially considering the poor reputation the person doing the doxxing has (a laundry list of false accusations with no evidence).
The question I want to ask, should the QOTO policy be updated t include a clause where we defederate from any instance that supports doxxing?
Vote if you'd like but ultimately the comments will decide where I stand on the issue.

@freemo
Will defederating stop the doxxing? Will it restore any lost privacy? If the answer is no, then defederating is just more political grandstanding that you criticize other instances for.
@sda Defederating will minimize the liklihood of doxxing, it will not **stop** it though. If you show up in their feeds less then it means your less likely to get their attention in the first place. Means they need to do more work to find victims, which is fine by me.
@freemo I voted NO. It highly depends on what do you mean by doxxing: if it's actively trying to hack other users' account then I think we should, on a case by case bases, try to solve it first by looking at the evidence and then contacting the instance and only then, if necessary, silence if not block.
If we mean people scraping around the public stuff of a user, as we said in another discussion, that is public and I am not against any bot binging on it.
A mod saying he is in favour is not enough for me: we would need evidence of that happening and evidence of a harmed user and mods on the other side doing nothing. Otherwise we are cutting bridges for no reason at all, and sunbeam.city has some high quality users
@arteteco The user is actively hacking peoples accounts.. They posted screenshots of DDoSing, screenshots of very details personal information not made public (address, family names, etc) and they attempted to use accoutn recovery mechanisms to determine a users private email.
They explicitly state in posts they are doing this.
@freemo Did he attack an user of ours? Mods were contacted and explicitly said they are ok with it?
Sorry for missing things out, I don't have much time lately and it's difficult to follow mastodon threads, I always lose something
@arteteco He did not attack a user of ours yet, but he has about half a dozen times called out our server with block requests, so it is clear we are in their cross hairs.
@freemo I see. Give me some time to catch up, I'll open a topic on discourse, see what I can find and get back to you
