A while ago I was inspired to try my hand at a more "explorable" periodic table online, in a new (to me) coding framework (sveltejs). I was slowed down by my embarrassing ignorance of chemistry. Any chemists have opinions on how to make a periodic table fun to explore? I was dreaming about drag and drop interactions...
@b0om I could think a few ways... , one, have it collapsible or expandable by shells/orbitals to make the distinction come across more clearly and perhaps even visualize some of the quirkiness of the orbitals that a normal periodic table doesnt show, like tendency towards pi-bonds vs sigma-bonds as it relates to those orbitals, I could thing of a few ways you might visualize that.
Also I am a huge fan of alternative periodic table layouts. Perhaps offer a drop down that lets you switch between alternative layouts as well, see here:
