@realcaseyrollins ummm might wanna rethink that one bro
@realcaseyrollins ahhh... I didnt know the ocean was filled with ramen.. should make my SCUBA adventures way more fun with this new knowledge :)
@realcaseyrollins You know it isnt salt that gives it the salt flavor. The salt (and meaty flavor) is from msg.. the flavor packet is almost entierly msg.
@realcaseyrollins I have a large bag of pure MSG. Its great in many foods, and very healthy (as it is salty but reduces sodium intake). I highly recommend it. Perfect in soups.
I do recommend not overusing it though. Ramen is great but it also tastes cheap for a reason.
@freemo
The 'meaty' flavour might also come from soy.
Is there any soy in it, @realcaseyrollins?
I've never expiernced a particularly meaty flavor from soy. Plain soy adds meaty texture but not flavor IMO.
@b6hydra
Here is Australia, you cannot avoid soy-filler, its in pies, pasties, breads, biscuits, chocolate, also all ready made meal with few exceptions, they even use it for animal feed. The only way to avoid it is to follow the certified organic labelling. Note that we will not buy products that claim "may contain traces of soy" either.
Its soy-filler for a reason.
Its cheap, monocultured and very nasty stuff. Same problem (cancerous herbicide) with canola.
@realcaseyrollins @freemo
The only reason almond milk is so expensive is because they have such tiny nipples. Its really hard to milk an almond!
@freemo
That is a real problem and something we think about often. :P
> Almond milk can be pricey, and yet offer very little nutritional value.
My parents buy it, I don't really buy it very often. I use it mostly for flavoring purposes rather than nutrition.
