I am retty strongly against drug tests from an ethical standpoint, but thats another matter entierly.
I dont know of any drug interactions with poppy seeds.

Ah, i think in this case (It was on a consumer programme) the person had a sandwich, the bread had poppy seeds on it, so somehow the person tested positive for drugs.
When the programmed looked in to it, it made sense how this could have happened, but surely a competent person upon being told this, would see what has happened. or actually ask have you had something with poppy seeds on.
Testing suggests an element of mis-trust between the employer and employee.
The way i see it if an employee is acting in a way that warrants a drug test then thet should be fired if they are on drugs or not. If they werent negligent the drug test is moot.

Good point, I have heard of people being fired after eating bread with poppy seeds, as they test positive for opium in work drug tests.
Common sense should take this sort of thing in to account (and a decent knowledge of science from the people testing)
I guess if you are on some meds that would react with opioids, badly then taking those meds + eating poppy seeds could be problematic., but probably in very rare cases.
