@freemo Nah, he's still very bad, and I doubt he's doing anything out of principles, but populism.
@olives that could be... ill let ya know once i do some research if my opinions have changed
@freemo To give you an idea of how populist he is:
He went on about how he'd shoot drug smugglers on the border.
He went on about how he'd blockade Mexico with the navy to "stop the flow of drugs".
He went on about abolishing unanimous juries to administer the death penalty.
He wants to expand use of the death penalty outside of murder.
Censorship of books in libraries.
Censorship of views in higher education.
He talks big about all that tough on crime stuff.
Lots of talk about the border and "finishing the wall".
@olives I dont mind a strong border, though its not a priority for me... a lot of that is very concerning i agree.
When he gets up in the morning he thinks who will I screw over today to amuse and distract my base , while throwing them a few ideological bones.
Who will I target with rhetoric to incite a visceral/emotional response to quell logic & distract .
Never does he think how can i help all those that elected me to serve. What can I do to benefit them . What needs fixing not f*king .

@freemo @PBruce @olives Bush & Obama built hundreds of miles of border walls, with bipartisan support. 🤷
I think you're right that it's idiotic; it doesn't really address today's immigration problems IIUC.
I'd rather the money was spent on "smart walls" i.e. drones to patrol the border areas to make sure e.g. nobody is stranded/etc. (It's a dangerous trek!)
I am against the idea of border walls regardless of who builds thrm.
Yes better drones and other enforcement tools woukd make more sense to me. They woukd atleast be cost aware. But really we just need better enforcement on american soil but that goes hand in hand with providing good aide to those in need too and provide good pathways to citizenship.
@freemo @ech @olives
Understand . and appreciate the objectivity .
Canada and the US have had mutual issues with border control and applying local and international laws appropriately and we did come to an agreed process to meet all those goals .
Canada does not have the numbers the US has , but we have accepted 1000s of refugees, when claims were legitimate and deported when not .We have what is called a safe 3rd country agreement
