That is a perfectly fair evaluation IMO. Principles should not be absolutes, like everything in life you need to consider the context to determine how to apply principles, they are just guidelines.
Some wars are very much justified to get involved in: WWII, WWI, Russia-Ukranian war... they do exist. The issue is when we **start** wars, and when we try to manipulate the world in nebulous ways in disputes which are morally ambiguous at best.

The funny thing is a lot of the people who critique the US now for foreign involvement also critique the US for not getting into WWI and WWII early enough. Just can't win with a lot of people!
