#Climate folks really need to do more to address the doomers. I run a few large forums on science related topics. The deniers disappeared a long time ago and were replaced by this lot. The worst part is, they're such an untapped resource because they care.
It's literally sponsored by big oil and borrows pages (and marketing firms) from the tobacco lobby.

Except that socialism (the real kind, the near-communism kind, not the european kind which is still capitalist) has had an abysmal track record when it comes to the environment. Worse than capitalism in fact.

@freemo @whatzaname @NikaShilobod Soviet central planning was weirdly incompetent, at least at times. Like, I don't think central planning could ever be anywhere near as good as laissez-faire, but I wouldn't have guessed they'd make the kinds of mistakes they did.
@freemo Yeah, as always, it's all about incentives.
Give people personal incentives to protect things like environmental status and they will tend to do so.
Socialism undermines those incentives, so it's not surprising when things like environmentalism get set aside for the things that are incentivized.
