If anyone has any reports of abusive moderator behavior from past members please sent it to me **in private**, I am compiling a portfolio of such incidents.

In particular abuse from @wild1145 / @wild1145 . I also am concerned with anyone from the community or fellow minorities who were mistreated by moderation staff, if there is any issue specific to those communities I want to make sure it gets looked at.

@freemo are you sure it's worth the trouble and your nerves? these blocklists are their own demise after all. as you wrote, those instances tend to bleed users ;)

@bonifartius

Don't worry, I am not curating a block list. I am curating a list of universeodon users who have come forward about the negligent moderation practices on the server. I then plan to dump the evidence collected from dozens of users in a public post (and probably boost it from my universeodon account) as well as over on mastodonapp.uk just to make sure people are aware of the abuse.

If people want to block his servers or not or even if their users just want to migrate away, thats up to them. This guy is just sitting here lying about all these threads blowing up where he is getting called out and since he is doubling down I want to make sure the evidence is in the public space and that when people search for the server its one of the first google hits.

@freemo
i wasn't thinking you are cooking up a block list! i'm just not sure this fight is worth it - most of these fights aren't after all :)

i do support your point of the users making an informed choice though. it's pretty shit to lose contact to people you follow for no good reason. like the guy who started the thread about the dobbs.town block.

@bonifartius

We arent quite ready to go public with it yet but the , the federation of servers that I started that is basically against abusive moderation practices like this... this is kinda the point.

We are working on curating evidence regarding moderation practices and creating two lists 1) servers with good moderation practices (no reports with evidence of abusive moderation) and 2) a list of servers with known bad moderation practices.

This way people can use it to select servers where they know they wont be supporting abusive practices against its own users or regarding federation.

Because when we tried this in the past the servers accused of course tried to retaliate we are making sure when the list is released the m evidence collected is absolutely massive and in case they try to attack us again this time we are armed with the evidence.

@wild1145 @wild1145

@freemo
if i understand it correctly it's lists regarding moderation of the respective servers own users? that is fine and could actually be helpful selecting a server.
@wild1145 @wild1145

@bonifartius

All moderation behaviors, both abuse and due dilligance over their own users, as well as their federation decisions.

@wild1145 @wild1145

@freemo @wild1145 @wild1145 what does federation decisions mean?

qoto doesn't moderate aside from very few things, so i assume it's not about which other servers are blocked (which would be the guilt by association blocklists frequently use as reason).

@freemo @wild1145 @wild1145 I wonder if people unwittingly join instances like that or mstdn.social, get bored by the weird performative echo chamber, then write off Mastodon and go back to Twitter or whatever.

@ech

By the look of it most of their users are never aware of the abuse until they are, then when they complain they get suspended.

When you have an echo chamber one of the problems is you dont know your in a echo chamber because any evidence of the reality you are in is so highly censored you hav eno way to know till its too late.

@wild1145 @wild1145

@AlphaKiloPapa

Its extremely easy to get out of echo chambers. Thats not the problem, the problem is that you dont know your in one until its too late.
