TOR onion network + clever-stupid advertising techniques to create news around it...

@kreyren

I think this advertising works deliberately in that way

Incorrect or ambiguous words, Words in " quotes " to make it mean whatever they think, taboo phrases, any triggering stuff, terminology with fear or drama of the unknown inserted to get your attention.

I guess it worked :) And in my opinion it's not wrong if they knew and know it will get reaction (highly likely being an advert and news!).
And what they mean by the quotes is hard to say as we are not them and they would never always tell the truth. SO it's not that they don't know I think more surely, it's just they know how to get reaction :)

They are playing their games :)

So it catches various level of folk for various reasons, 2 examples:

- the person correcting, like yourself, ends up actually re-advertising their advert by uploading it with this technical error that matters little for average person... and not a big crime but as spreading tool works for those online (be aware and I guess reporting is double-edged sword - you decide who / which side it has achieved more)
and
- the average viewer looks to learn new terms (yes even from the wrong-but-major sources...) and usually has no clue or it's new to them but keeps watching for the unknown interesting reasons a bit like newspaper typing headlines that might not really give you anything but are great for reading more or getting to 'know' about it... never what it seems or the detail is always different to the short version.

Nobody is totally wrong here, but perhaps usage of time is questionable if it's regularly 'wrong'... so the point stands here "it's wrong" but by design so "it's not wrong, it's just modern news" and techniques like that get yours/our attention which means some 'interesting' wrong bits inserted of what will get some scandal or outrage type stuff anywhere in a community, much like hackers has been used incorrectly or associated 'wrongly'... I mean rightly according to advert world... ^^

The whole idea overall is generally to announce and get reaction with the priority of news being spread and that usually works best with something fear-based or taking words in wrong meaning or something so people re-tweet/re-toot it or shout it loud / become repeaters of sorts.

Don't mean to over-analyse you or the material but at least they do a good job of it and with that life-size professionally printed board (!) THAT is a real keeper and will be in someone's room somewhere as a wall divide or table... big letter sure make it idiot-proof not to be able not to see it - it's almost like writing
"Hey intelligent people look at how wrong this is and you work it out online between yourselves, - don't forget the pic! Thank you!"

This includes myself writing about it but I'm also advertising that I'd like something better to do and was fairly quick for me to write also anyway :)

BOOST IF YOU WANT TO RE-ADVERTISE :)
- no don't just joking...
...but let's see who goes for it ^_^ I'd certainly appreciate better uses of my time and hope someone gives me some ideas instead of making little pics and comments like these!

@freeschool I don't think that this is playing games, i think that they are actually stupid about what Tor is and how it works as i am not aware of euronews doing this kind of strategy before + i saw a twitter page showing the same twitter.onion url that now seems to be not available so that makes me think that they actually had this vanity url and then quickly changed it?

either way thanks for reminding me about not spreading news designed to cause outrage to promote engagement.
