Static Pages Vs. Wordpress system... ADVICE PLEASE....
Static Pages Vs. Wordpress system...
So some help here... I know my site is not great and the + / - 's that goe with it - but I am looking for re-evaluation using other people's advice for what is possible now 10/20 years later...
SCENARIO
So one day I'll probably move back to static (where's Frontpage2000 lol..) so what I'm really asking is IF THESE THINGS ARE POSSIBLE / EASY :
- own search engine for static pages... plugin someone else's solution?
- with Wordpress I still have access to 1000's plugins and choices... pretty amazing in terms of eco system and search all here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/
so is there the same for Static Sites? I know there is the whole of the internet but to add what I need from 1 directory and just enable plugin is what I consider superior / efficient computing in many ways and continue doing work (I have lots of example static can't do).
- can static pages re-changing urls (Wordpress can anywhere / anytime I can't post URL then all links inside posts also change)
Thanks just asking kind of objectively and hope it doesn't trigger or offend I side with Wordpress for now... CONVINCE ME A BIT (without me expecting the moon, but if I'm right STATIC doesn't even have a site search usually?). Thanks again

Numbered the Q's and added reply to your reply.
Some Q's slightly edited for clarity...
1- own search engine
++ yes it's possible and I guess I was also thinking about the search that shows as drop down (AJAX style) and is scrollable / selectable but that is actually NOT needed definitely bloat so no need to mix this or demand it / complicate code... a simple box of course will do...
++was also thinking of plugging in someone else's code for stat reporter but this is separate
(I think this point is Q. is done)
2-Wordpress plugins
++ Tools exist in Wordpress to process image names on load, do various tricks, reprocess old image names, filter existing stuff., add things to site interface...
but I'll skip aesthetic types of plugins for this question and say some examples below as functionally as an added plugin
>>>>Image naming, renaming at the same time as uploading - very useful
(i.e don't have to manually filter out hyphens, punctuations and capitalises them, adds captions and alt text etc)
>>>>404 redirecter (anything near the page name, so if I edit it slightly I can trust it sends people to new page)
>>>>Broken link checker
>>>>Related posts footer
>>>>Mobile version (might not needed for Static)
>>>>Table of Contents like Wikipedia (guess this is not much to do with static and can be done)
++ Gitlab I guess it didn't really exist back then or was just starting / little known / limited but I guess as basic pages people could use...
++ About urls in posts...
For example if I rename a post's url, do all link in past posts also change? Works in Wordpress that it does so I never have any local broken links (unless I manually link... when linking it brings up a box which links to post ID rather than link so wondering if static can do that )
I know I'm talking like that Huawei vs. iPhone animation (I'll upload to show you what I mean) where the cartoon bear just says iphone all the time (like I'm saying Wordpress all the time) even though the Huawei phone doesn't everything bigger and better (Static pages in this case perhaps but more minimally!!)
So just asking as I'm sure not all was possible then or even easy now with hugo or what not
Thanks

Very funny :)

@freeschool
A lot of what you're talking about reminds me of dynamic pages.
There are people who run their own static sites and blogs through gitlab pages and customize the url. Downside is gitlab doesn't have a huge suite of add-ons like what you're looking for.
My best results has been running my own site via my own VPS and Drupal CMS.

Feel free to drop me a shortlist of links to your stuff if you have...
