Fediverse or Google - Which more?... CHOOSE LIFE!... ( LE$$ Google? )...
A Fediverse game-changer I believe. Fediver$e (or Fediverse) ?
LE$$ Googl£ link$$$$$
More open source software / FOSS like Invidious
Fediverse or support Google more
What do you think?
Do you choose life? https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=0q27InlH8I0 (music)
Example - Mastodon etc to give option to use Invidious links or educate at least @Gargron

@barefootstache @invidious Some points there but still overwhelmingly in the favour of us / Invidious / Mastodon doing these things together and it working fine already separately and can be perfected over time as we use it together too (more awareness merging and demand for it).
Invidious does more than the minimum currently so that wins it for me.

If you require more detailed points then see below - usually people can't hack long(er) reply so I've had to put disclaimers to things to say "If you want to understand or solve things properly, read more!!" - this is not the case for you maybe but thoughts I'd say anyway... "there's more if you really want to solve / think about it"
███████████████████
Points start with █
█I think the quality of server is something still to steamroller through and to use because there is still a link on every invidious page to the steroided youtube connection. Our more 'small is beautiful' servers are not that bad and lesser for good reasons which are worth also taking into consideration... and even accepting! Because we're not brutal massive farming systems and thus more value in using and promoting). More donations from more usage. Or at least we would see what happens and see how many switch off option and go back to youtube directly if the default when clicking to invidious links or having them replaced (even aesthetically) wasn't acceptable.
█For your user considerations of being different or complicated or scary (if those are the kinds of things you mean) I think it's less the case, because the public would simply click it same as they do now with quite everything else... so a bit of ignorance or even indifference here we can use more for our gain without taking much from them!
If I and most of the Fediverse started to give out these links (and many do already) then it would just be 'normal' (normalised.)
So much is worth a try here and working actually quite perfect right now my end.
Just needs top-down introduction which Mastodon could do in options, adding / integrating. Done. LESS BILLION$ TO THEM AGAINST FOSS,,,humanity...etc
█Naturally Invidious and others seem destined to merge or add-on on these types of things as they go and also unite fronts
ELSE get fed on by Capitalism for the **millions** of links per day!
Hate to be of ultimatums but over and over we see it's us or them, from them forcing us too even if we don't want to fight.
To do it properly needs this pre-emptively or get taken over and eaten alive which is what Mastodon feed google right now.., directly responsible or not.
So after some consideration that this is 'a bit different' (even though I don't think it is that much as a link to try) it's still better as education better practical usage to use. Even 'coercion' or 'forced' as first default (having the choice of Mastodon replace links or not for example) means users can try use these links FIRST *knowing* we the makers and leaders of better innovation have clear open backed-up reasoning why THIS is a measurably the way and take up responsibility also...
We against many things.
We should work towards and try towards using it...
We want to support good eggs like you and their work.
Mastodon or any FOSS type things work like this and need it as much as possible together
(ok it might take a bit of code replacing youtube.com with redirect.invidious.io *not* but not a big deal to switch on and off as checkbox...
and not doing this simply feeds capitalism and bad practices... (adverts, bad code, tracking, privacy, mapping people etc!)...
Eventually I / we / people of a certain intention should work towards spreading it... and that is sometimes by using it! Even 1 or 2 clicks more (which it isn't in most cases!) I will do it if it helps (and gives more ignorant people not willing to do it manually a chance to help too!)
█The solution to the 'going down of instances' (happens I agree) is solved using link with redirect
https://redirect.invidious.io
So instead of normal youtube.com:
https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=R3ptZ1W-FRA
Hope you enjoyed the points and can kill off in you mind any doubts and even make it happen!

@freeschool
#invidious is an optional frontend for YouTube, though it is quite lacking in user experience for non-technical folks. Especially now with the battle of YouTube trying to take down various instances. The hassle of jumping instances to find a stable and fluid connection is hard to find.
Using the various tools to auto-parse the YouTube links seems like the more stable/independent solution over deciding which instance to use.
In long term we should move to platforms that don't steal our time from platform based ads like #PeerTube or #Odysee (it gives the option for creators to mirror their uploaded videos from YouTube).
