Jaron Lanier makes an interesting point: the language matters and conditions our thinking. In immunology, war/fight metaphors surely slowed down our understanding of concepts like physiological, benign self-reactivity. In neuroscience, describing the brain as a computer has also created problems understanding an organ that came about through evolution – and not engineering.

"Perhaps, to some degree, there’s a resistance to demystifying what we do because we want to approach it mystically. The usual terminology, starting with the phrase “artificial intelligence” itself, is all about the idea that we are making new creatures instead of new tools. This notion is furthered by biological terms like “neurons” and “neural networks,” and by anthropomorphizing ones like “learning” or “training,” which computer scientists use all the time."

the language matters and conditions our thinking...

@cyrilpedia @NicoleCRust I just did a post literally after yours, that by coincidence is based on what I would reply now
- about A/.I. with Human Emotional Intelligence angle or focus (not done much in science or BigTech) which kind of touches my reply that would be to you here... So I think A.I./BigTech/Science deliberately may or may not do the Human spectrum for many reasons explained in audio and this reply...

Audio below in this post and my reply after...

The 1st paragraph already I was thinking about "The English Way" or "The German Way" of calling things (perhaps not PC term (not politically correct in all sense to call it that but just in short)... so how things are categorised by those who created it, and in the past (and even now) not really emotionally or humanly intelligent / caring like other languages who perhaps base and name things after Sun or Spirit or Earthly / Worldly providers so it's language praises / believe in that in each sentence (could be wrong by African or Australian Indigenous mostly come to mind)... accepting mystery and just praising whatever they can as beings/mysteries in the world
- not just gendering things or assumption from sciences "we are right because we can't prove it otherwise, we know everything, God doesn't exist and soul doesn't exist at all even though personally we can measure it / we don't know and we won't entertain such subjects like teachers in old school mentality" and certainly they or BigTech won't money there to accept we're human or unique beings something! No Hashtags there for !

The 2nd paragraph you wrote shows this more with AI phrase itself which my audio(s) and account generally covers hashtag make the clutter a bit more filtered... but if you scroll or follow + notification I'm sure you can get something especially if I know you're interested and ask...

Old School Vs. New School (which hasn't really kicked in as people in Tech are mostly BigTech / Gov based which doesn't care essentially or doesn't want to spend time Humanising and putting priority in that way, so putting machine in people's place IS the filter and discarding of humanity the more machines you put in a line each having it's purpose and everyone basically being 'German' efficient in cutting our human parts and even options itself...

ℹ️ Again apologise for speed writing / rushing a bit and anyone with how I can better write this please re-write it and send me.

ℹ️ Also welcome to rate that audio about AI / Human Emotional Intelligence:
