Now that #Brazil has banned Xitter, where are Brazilian people going?

Based on Google Trends, they’re mostly interested in #Bluesky, and to a (much) lesser extent, in #Threads

#Mastodon is nowhere to be found, which should immensely worry pro-Fedi people

@o_simardcasanova I’m pro-Fedi but I’m not worried.

I can already use this account to follow people on Threads and (thanks to bridgy fed) Bluesky.

The whole point of open social media is that we no longer all have to be on the same platform to connect with each other.

@Cyberpreppy Respectfully, I think you should be worried: mastodon.social/@o_simardcasan

Without strong counterweights, Meta will dominate the ActivityPub landscape

Mastodon is currently in a weakened position, which directly benefits Meta

@o_simardcasanova I don’t care if Meta dominates the ActivityPub landscape. The point of an open protocol is that people (and companies) can choose how they use it. Other people using Threads does not prevent me using Mastodon.

@Cyberpreppy @o_simardcasanova ChaChing sold or ruined because developers or users don't get political power-lay connections with steamrollering things !

What I mean is yes "I don't care" almost always has some truth in it (and right) but gives way to bullies or tyrants too easily because that what they do and you don't care about the?
If we want to see the future of Mastodon continue (of which we know how it goes based on history of all apps, business etc) then you know there's more than one way to buy or skin a cat.

So if you're interested in getting low quality saturated stuff... keep not caring (I think this seems right to say people only care when it's too late or evident rather than historical like "No America surely doesn't want to take over... again" while I'm not trying to introduce a divide here or ultimatum) it's still like the wrong people have too many ways to mess up things and dilute / destroy it in favour of their own model (Mastodon-like stuff using the free / public maintained protocol + shit on top)

BUT as always it's what the good people didn't do - not just what the bad people grind out 150% -

it's also Gargron / my admin or others that don't develop people to realise or care (it's not good enough to say "it's not my job" because it is about caring otherwise why bother?)

IF we are not using @Invidious links to STOP being ad-farmed on Mastodon (million of youtube/google links_ then what are we doing stagnating ?

Also the opposition power in terms of money / data tracking / $ from adverts / you name it)....is pumping them up all the while and if you ever see one company block out the sun for the smaller- than you can imagine us out of the light eventuality

EXAMPLE LINK
A link like this filters out those bad things and is a big win invidious.jing.rocks/watch?v=Q CLICK instead of the opposite from 10's of people from 1 link, maybe millions per day on many links and many clicks.

I don't know why or how people don't see it - but he did and said "no it's other people's responsibility" (just the same as creating a better twitter he made his responsibility so same thing defending links although a sub part...

We have to finish or continue defending else it's just like the open source version of the same commercial version (cheaper for them!) which is not good!

Mastodon Ad-farms ayayayaaaa...
