One event isn’t a trend. Two aren’t either. Once you get to three, you can start being curious… but get some math to back up your argument if you start claiming a trend.
@garyackerman two does gives you a trend .. when my belt moves one hole, that says something about walking more. Three does give you a standard deviation, albeit a hint at a measure of uncertainty.
@garyackerman very true, even at 3-9 there's a correlation risk where the occurrence may have an auxiliary causality. That makes the math check out but it's still not a trend.
