Wow! Stadia hardware refunds. You get to keep a pretty decent pad and you get a refund! It cannot be denied, Stadia was the best deal in gaming in recent memory. Free everything! 😉 https://www.theverge.com/2022/11/30/23486304/google-stadia-hardware-refund-store #Stadia #xp #gaming
@Strider true. I'd rather Stadia have survived, but I cannot deny that Google tried to do their best for the consumers who supported Stadia.
PS: I should be getting my money back for my pad too!
@Strider I like the potential of cloud gaming. I'm pretty certain that the next big step up in gaming experiences is coming from exploiting the power, scale, and speed of the data centre.
Both will live on, local boxes and big cloud experiences can coexist.
I'm not convinced they can coexist. I think in the short term you're right. I think they will coexist. However, we're already seeing companies like M$ and NVIDIA trying to corner this market. In the long term, all it takes is for one of these huge companies to get the lions share of games/developers to the point where developers won't have enough people to sell the game too who are no using cloud-based devices.
Again, I hope I'm wrong about it but money always wins.
@gpowerf
Well it's good you're getting your dosh back.
I don't think cloud gaming is going away, but I'd be lying if I said I am happy about that. It's the same reason I don't like games that require an internet connection to play because if the developer/manufacturer pulls the plug, then the consumer loses out.
