I have looked at OSM and although it is a good map alternate, I need live traffic. I can't seem to find a privacy friendly option. Suggestions?

@jellycrystals
Heres a list of EU based options. It is not a guarantee, that they are very privacy friendly, but they are operating under GDPR. Not sure about the live traffic either.

Not sure this was helpful at all, but all I could suggest.

@asbjornn I have been trawling that page for a week or so. Found Infomaniak's kSuite and that was a win!

@Tommie Had a look. Not overly excited from first impressions, but will give it a go. Thanks.

@jellycrystals @Tommie Is the problem, scale? As in, sourcing lots of driver data, in real time, at all times? If so that’s a natural oligopoly etc.

I guess in the pre-smartphone days we still had all those traffic reporters as a paid service … who in turn, probably used a base layer of data from the local traffic authority … this all still exists

@jellycrystals late to the party here- did you find something?

Wired did an article: wired.com/story/the-best-priva

I’ve been using HereWeGo on iOS for 6+ months and find it works very well (Ireland & Europe). I suspect it’s not very private, but it doesn’t seem overly aggressive on tracking and has no ads, and you can use without signing in at least

@Liamo Not really. I did try that one but it is not as useful in Thailand sadly.
