@snow Indeed. I worked for a porn site before in the past, and it can be extremely sleazy. But what I worked for was not spamming everything in carnation at least... well, not too much..... LL

@lordalveric To be clear it is **not** spam. It is a federated timeline, not a direct contact. That would be like complaining the internet is "porn spam" based solely on the fact that a lot of websites exist that have porn on it, even if none of those websites actually spam.
Its not SPAM its just the content in the fediverse, nothing more, which you are browsing unfiltered.
@freemo The distinction I make: If a website is full of porn, I have to choose to go to that site, and I know what to expect.
But on my live feeds that get overwhelmed with so much porn I can't get to the other posts? That's spam, no matter how you skin that cat!
Now that I know how to filter the crap, it shall no longer be a problem.
@lordalveric The live feed doesnt exist in the world of web pages but if it did it would be like a website that showed you ever new website that comes up in real time and lests you browse through their home pages.
If you go to the federated feed you are saying "I want to see all the content across the fediverse without restriction".. it isnt spam, that is exactly what you **asked** for. Especially considering you have complete control to change it if you wish and filter as you like. It takes all of a few minutes to almost eliminate porn.

@lordalveric So its not SPAM then it was just that you didnt know how to use the tools and were viewing content you didnt want to view. Glad we helped with that then :)

@lordalveric Whether something is SPAM or not has nothing to do with volume. Lots of people like porn, lots of people share it, so much so it dominates the volume of what is being talked about. That doesnt make it SPAM.
A topic being popular doesnt make that topic SPAM.
