so I keep thinking "I should recommend <x good somewhat old anime> to <friend>" then realising that that will likely end up being something they want to watch together
most good anime is best experienced alone so you can stew on
but maybe the fact that it's not the sort of thing you can sit down with your housemate and watch is part of why people just watch seasonal trash now

not all of these are necessarily best experienced alone but there's the "good shit" list off the top of my head
leaving out yuri genre work because while is's my specialty it's not for everyone
*it's sort of a mess but it has a lot to say
