Static Pages Vs. Wordpress system... ADVICE PLEASE....
Static Pages Vs. Wordpress system...
So some help here... I know my site is not great and the + / - 's that goe with it - but I am looking for re-evaluation using other people's advice for what is possible now 10/20 years later...
SCENARIO
So one day I'll probably move back to static (where's Frontpage2000 lol..) so what I'm really asking is IF THESE THINGS ARE POSSIBLE / EASY :
- own search engine for static pages... plugin someone else's solution?
- with Wordpress I still have access to 1000's plugins and choices... pretty amazing in terms of eco system and search all here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/
so is there the same for Static Sites? I know there is the whole of the internet but to add what I need from 1 directory and just enable plugin is what I consider superior / efficient computing in many ways and continue doing work (I have lots of example static can't do).
- can static pages re-changing urls (Wordpress can anywhere / anytime I can't post URL then all links inside posts also change)
Thanks just asking kind of objectively and hope it doesn't trigger or offend I side with Wordpress for now... CONVINCE ME A BIT (without me expecting the moon, but if I'm right STATIC doesn't even have a site search usually?). Thanks again

++You mean like a submit field that will direct the user to a new static page? Yes, that's possible. Changing content/view of a page once it's already loaded makes it dynamic- not static.

++If you mean plugins that load along with the page and don't change anything after it's done? I guess they exist but I don't recall there being much demand for this niche. Most people defeatedly stick with dynamic sites- instead of having a custom gitlab static page.
- can static pages re-changing urls (Wordpress can anywhere / anytime I can't post URL then all links inside posts also change)
++ Not sure if I understand. If you're asking if the url can be changed in the address bar after a static page has been loaded, it's possible with some JavaScript. If you mean to change all addresses to pages in a domain, that's strictly up to the web builder and/or server admin.
To get an idea of what you're up against, I suggest playing with gitlab pages (or github if they have it, I don't know). Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'm not entirely sure I'm understanding you correctly.

A lot of what you're talking about reminds me of dynamic pages.
There are people who run their own static sites and blogs through gitlab pages and customize the url. Downside is gitlab doesn't have a huge suite of add-ons like what you're looking for.
My best results has been running my own site via my own VPS and Drupal CMS.
