@lupyuen indeed, the magic "face-focus" software on a samsung mobile of a relative doesn't work with masks ;) unfortunately, other algorithms are already being retrained for detection with masks. maybe it's time for better masks: https://cvdazzle.com/ :)

@lupyuen One of my friends who is into ML stuff was just telling me about this twitter beef a few days ago -- Still not sure what the difference between a dataset problem and a "social" &/or "structural" problem is
@lupyuen the best part is where nobody stops for a second and questions if automated face recognition etc. isn't just making societies even worse than they are already 💁
