It occurs to me that many people have callsigns that are the same number of characters for their amateur radio identifiers, which implies that a metric for dxing exists where you seek to contact someone with a maximally different callsign -

that is, finding the greatest hamming distance.

Here's my friend that I've carried across the same part of the same street twice in as many weeks!

A memorandum from TOROID LABS: I haven't had a lot of time to develop or use it this year, but I've been pretty pleased with my apparatus for doing improvised ambient and noise music lately. The most recent VODs at twitch.tv/labaslab show it off moderately well, and I don't always feel that way.

A long way to go, to be sure. I'm in the process of brainstorming ways to develop and share this work on platforms other than twitch. Some kind of album or recordings are already in the works, and I'm compiling my requirements for a live performance rig, as well. This may take a while to come together, but it's art for sharing.

If you're into the twitch dot tv thing, join us for yet another solid day of noise and noise-adjacent experimentation.

Hi QOTO et al, I'm Jason! Here is an .

If this sort if thing matters to you, I hold degrees in (BA) and a electrical (MS). I work in commercial software quality/test, but for years developed and supported SW and HW for embedded systems. I like control theory and signal processing of all kinds, low-level/real-time code, and modeling & simulation. I also like complexity theory, cybernetic ideas, linguistic and social sciences, ecology, the list goes on.

I speak OK French, and have been teaching myself Arabic (MSA) for the past couple years... sa3idu biliqa'ika!

I love , including "world" and folk traditions (I play the Irish kind on flute and concertina) and a lot of much weirder experimental, electronic, and noisy genres. There's not much I don't enjoy listening to.

Amateur , too, though not as much of that since gradschool. Pretty big fan of Thomas Pynchon's novels. Enjoy film photography, occasional watercolor/drawing. Lately I'm learning to build synthesizer circuits and code my own audio DSP.

I live in Eastern Massachusetts with my partner and our three kids. We moved here last year after 12+ years in Huntsville, Alabama, but I'm originally from New York. Only scratching the surface here, but I've been meaning to post a thing or two on this here elephant for a long time, and it seems like as good a time as any! Feel free to say hi.

In a new place (Qoto/Mastodon), in a new place (New England). Here's to new adventures.
