@olives Moviewise, early Miyazaki is always a safe bet (Nausicäa!) , also Otomo (Akira, Steamboy).

Series: My guilty pleasure is RoboTech, even if I know I should be watching the original stuff it was cobbled together from. I might re-watch Captain Harlock, but can't get my hands on it.

Definitely cringey with today's eyes: Captain Future, which has a cult following in Germany. Wouldn't spend a minute on that, even if it was one of my first contacts with Anime as a young human.
