Mob-debugging in tonight's Unity meetup, we learned that the rigidbody and the transform attached to the same GameObject can have different positions, because of course they can.

@peterdrake a rigidbody is a buffet of coordinate systems: actor space, mass space, shape space, possibly a user driven and any number of gameobjects between the gameobject you're manipulating and the one with the rigidbody component.
If the rigidbody is dynamic it'll ignore transform changes of its gameobject during play.
