I know a lot of people like to use the term "guys" as a "gender-neutral" way to address a group of people.
In this essay, I will contend that it is in fact not gender-neutral at all.
For this experiment, we selected three heterosexual cisgender men, and asked them all the same question:
"How many guys have you slept with lately?"
All three agreed that guys clearly means men here, and denied any involvement.
So maybe it's not as gender-neutral as you thought?
