Microsoft will stop providing updates for Windows 7 on January 14 2020.
The KDE community has shared details on how they want to help people using the Windows 7 operating system to migrate to Linux and the Plasma desktop before it becomes obsolete.

@design_RG You are welcome. Good to hear that, maybe Microsoft have changed... being more fair to they customers.
@rvlobato Yes, I thought it was quite positive, and plan to write a blog post telling people this migration option is there, it's free and easy to do.
Will mention the KDE project and the link you provided too -- options are god, and Linux is technically a superb choice. TY!
@rvlobato Thanks for the post, Ronaldo. I was surprised to find out recently, and confirming myself, that Microsoft is allowing an upgrade for Window 1 or 8.x systems directly into Windows 10, and the resulting install will have a digital license and be activated normally.
As long as the original O.S. was activated, it will work. I upgrade a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop to Win 10 Home. A desktop Windows 8.1 Pro system became Win 10 Pro, both installs were easy and no problems.
Surprising, since officially this free upgrade path had been discontinued in July 2016.
