There is a licenesed windows installed by default. Definitely don't want to waste that.

And samsung pssd is sooooo fast. Clonezilla can run 19GB/minutes.

installing opensuse. This is a quite different setup. LUKS with LVM, never used lvm before. I think there is some overlap between btrfs and lvm?

so the latest pcr-oracle breaks the fde-tools. Looks like the maintainer has already updated the code and now it's in the factory. According to the wiki, it should be available for tw in a week?

Anyway, have to wait now.

Somehow the tailscale can't connect to my DE server using IPv6, and now all my traffic is routed through fra relay and it's sloooooooooow

@skyblond while btrfs and LVM can be used to get similar results in some ways they really dont overlap that much. I run all my laptops with LVM+LUKS+BTRFS and i find it to be a great setup... I also use raid when there are multiple drives

@freemo I have never used LVM before. I though Btrfs can handle drive changes pretty well. But it looks like LVM takes it to another level, in terms of disk management.

For now I only have 1 disk with LVM+LUKS+Brtfs, but in the future I do have a plan to add another disk to saturate my nuc. I'll see how lvm helps at that time.

@skyblond i only use the basic functions of BTRFS, snapshots, backup, and copy-on-write.. the other stuff is a bit buggy and as you point out not as powerful as LVM anyway. Also you are likely going to need different formats on different partitions so you will need LVM anyway.
